Conflict + Resolution Work Part 2

After having filmed our conflict we decided to take a still image for the resolution. The image shows the two characters shaking hands with a small filter  from the iPhone software to create a calming look to the image.

Conflict + Resolution Work From October 2013.

TV Dramas are well know for the use of Conflict and Resolution to create stories and dramatic situations. In one of our media lessons we were asked to go out an create a conflict and resolution situation. On a very short time scale we managed to have a small conflict in the corridor. This shows one character attacking the other and then lifting him up. This is not a cut clip so the clip runs through as no editing has been done.

Im taking an extra look at the monarch of the glen to develop my understanding on how TV dramas experiment with the perception of male and female stereotypes.

Draft Double Page Article for my Magazine.

This is my first draft for my double page article for my rock magazine. I included most of the necessary elements of a double page article and tried to maintain a professional and strong outcome.
However after discussing with my target audience about what they thought to my double page I was presented with very negative reviews. The first point I was presented with was that my double page is "very plain and boring" and that they felt that it is not very interesting and doesn't look like a typical rock magazine article as it is missing the rough and rock like feel. A rock magazine is normally a direct connection to the rockstar life style which is very crazy and spontaneous and this isn't found in my double page. The image in the background also takes the attention away from the writing and the use of just "Interview with Remy Lebeau" is just very plain and does not interest my target audience.
However the audience think the image used is very good and the use of font is something that should not be changed.

To address these negative responses I am going to re-evaluate the layout of the magazine and try and create a stronger connection to the rock genre. I am going to increase the number of photos on the double page and try and create a more creative double page article.

First Draft Contents Page

This was my First Draft which I used to develop my photoshop skills and understand the basic layout of a magazine contents page. I would not use this as a contents page as after my research I realised that it does not look as busy and exciting as rock magazine contents pages do. I also realised that the magazine would not have enough pages and the photo I used has no relevance to the rock genre and looks more like the country genre.

After talking to my target audience they informed me that the contents page does not feature the parts of a Rock magazine contents page. They felt that the picture I used has a more country look and the number of pages would make the magazine very small with not much in it. This would make the magazine sell less as it would have less inside in contrast to other magazines.

I will be redoing the whole contents page as I do not feel it fits the purpose of a rock magazine.

Second Draft for My Musik Magazine Front Cover.

After speaking to my target audience they informed me that compared to other magazines such as Kerrang the magazine front cover is very plain and boring. They also thought the price was very low and as this is a good thing for them they felt that it would make the magazine feel cheap and lose its unique value. They also felt the background was very busy with many irrelevant posters in the background and they felt it would look better with the picture to be closer and more to the point. Overall they liked the font type and the use of colour.


From this I have learned that I will have to increase the number of cover lines and include more of what the magazine has to offer on the front page. I will also increase the price after I decreased it from the last draft as now realise it was not a good idea. I will also make it less prominent as on the Kerrang page it is featured very small. Since my target Audience like the font and use of colour I will be keeping this the same and using it in my final design.


Overall I have learned a lot from my target audience and will be using what they have said to move forward and hopefully produce a strong front cover.
